In a period of just four months this spring and summer The Actors Fund of Canada distributed $1 million to workers in the country’s entertainment industry who were devastated by the impact of Covid-19.
And as always Sim is there to support the AFC and the people it serves.
On August 29th Sim sponsored a major prize, as well as two foursomes, in The Big Swing Golf Tournament which was held just outside Toronto to benefit the Actors Fund of Canada. The AFC provides compassionate and confidential support to help entertainment professionals maintain their health, dignity and ability to work during tough times.
Sim has been a proud supporter of The Big Swing for the last several years and although the tournament itself was run a little differently this year due to Coronavirus, both the need and the community support was stronger than ever.
“The tournament was a few months later this year and we thought maybe it wouldn’t happen, but they made it work by staggering the start times instead of doing a shotgun start,” said Ted Stokes, a participant and Account Executive for Sim Toronto Lighting and Grip.
“It was definitely different and kind of weird this year to be so spread out,” said Jim Teevan, another golfer and Account Executive for Sim Camera in Toronto. “But in a weird way it felt nice to know that keeping our distance is the way we show support these days”.
“It was just so good to be there and so good to be out,” added Ted. “This was our first time seeing a bunch of people from the business and I’ve really missed that”.
“And the Actors Fund is just such a great cause.”
