Operations Manager

About the Position:

The Operations Manager will provide leadership to the team and is responsible for the day-to-day operations at the Sim New York facility. This involves managing Tech, Facility, Reception and Production Assistants, collaborating with our Production team, and working with offline clients with a focus on finding solutions.


What You’ll Do:

Daily Operations

  • Prepare and coordinate clients’ accommodations and edit systems prior to a production’s start date
  • Oversee Tech and Facility Departments to ensure clients’ accommodations and systems are amenable to clients’ requests and daily tasks
  • Collaborate with Sales Department on availability and accommodation of offline bookings
  • Collaborate with Tech and Facility Departments on room and system move strategies
  • Serve as main point of contact for all Offline clientele on a daily basis
  • Field client concerns, comments and requests throughout their time at Sim
  • Oversee Tech, Facility, Reception and Production Assistant support daily tasks
  • Process, manage and track client and employee building access cards
  • Manage general upkeep of facility (e.g., ordering furniture, coordinating with vendors, scheduling necessary building maintenance)



  • Develop and facilitate training scheme for entry-level production assistants through the Made in NY Post PA Program
  • Direct management of Office Administrator, Facility Managers, Production Assistants and Post Engineering Technician in local facility. Includes mentoring & training, attendance & performance management, ongoing communication, oversight of daily tasks, enforcement of processes & procedures, participation in hiring and selection process.
  • Initiate start paperwork, work orders and invoices for freelance editors and assistant editors
  • Review and approve weekly billing for all Offline clients
  • Lead weekly Tech, Facility and Reception meetings
  • Manage and track Offline client requests in scheduling system, Xytech
  • Conduct audits on scheduling in Xytech to ensure accuracy of all client information, dates and rooms
  • Managing timesheets and holiday schedule of seven employees


Additional Duties

  • Oversee events held at facility as needed (e.g., scheduling, staffing, and budget)
  • Provide Partner + VP, Post New York with any additional support, as assigned


What You’ll Need:


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Minimum of Bachelor degree
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the film and television industry
  • Experience working in the post production industry a plus
  • Experience working in a managerial position a plus
  • Strong experience in the client services industry preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Xytech and Dayforce preferred
  • Knowledge of Avid, Final Cut Pro, Premiere editing systems a plus
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel preferred

Our Work Enviornment:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment
  • Some physical effort required as everyone on the Sim team is asked from time to time to pitch in and help share the load.
  • Some exposure to physical risk
