About the Position

The position of Crew follows specific processes as defined in the Procedures Handbook.  They will ensure lighting, grip and cable equipment is appropriately and accurately pulled, shipped, received, tested and checked for damage in a safe, timely and efficient manner.  They will advise the Department Head or 2nd Department Head when inventory supply is low.  They will maintain the warehouse in an orderly, neat fashion and assist in any other area of Sim Lighting + Grip as required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Pull and ship orders following Lighting, Grip, Cable and Swing shipping processes as required
    • Visually check equipment to ensure there is no visible damage, all pieces accounted for and in good working condition
    • Assemble as necessary and test equipment prior to shipment
    • Flag and refer defective equipment to the appropriate party, following department protocols
  • Receive rental orders and purchases following Lighting, Grip, Cable and Swing receiving processes as required
  • Maintain positive and courteous customer relationships
  • Conduct all duties expeditiously in a safe and careful manner to minimize damage
  • Process work assignments as designated by Department Head, 2nd Department Head and / or Floor Manager
  • Ensure iCodes, serial numbers, barcodes and engraving on equipment are reflecting Sim standard, referring issues to the appropriate party, following department protocols
  • Perform RentalWorks functions as directed by Department Head, could include staging/scanning/printing barcodes, status inquiries, and quality control activities
  • Refer RentalWorks data entry errors or COD orders to the Rental Coordinator (RC)
  • Direct customer enquiries/complaints to the RC, Customer Service Representative or Inside Sales Representative as appropriate
  • Maintain all work areas in a clean and safe state
  • Preform testing and maintenance on equipment as assigned
  • Identify issues and make recommendations (includes damaged equipment on shelf, defective bar codes, internal communication issues, paperwork, customer relations, etc.)
  • Build team relationships with co-workers
  • Continuous knowledge building of equipment (new and historic) including their uses and locations
  • Provide assistance in other departments as required
  • Perform all other reasonable duties assigned by the company
  • Primary frequent internal contact within the department and with the Technical Support, Generators and Transportation Departments;
  • Primary frequent external contact with customers and drivers.

What You’ll Need

  • Successful completion of secondary school preferred
  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in film and/or television production related field an asset
  • Experience in a warehouse environment is an asset
  • Film production experience is an asset
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Order picker and forklift certified preferred
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness of all processes
  • Cope with high work volumes
  • Know when to escalate matters for higher level approval
  • Maintain effective communication during times of high work volume
  • Maintain temperament during times of high stress and customer complaints
  • Must be capable of operating a forklift and order picker
  • Availability to do overtime including weekends
